Our
Services
Specialized treatment with evidence based therapies
Trauma/PTSD
We offer comprehensive trauma treatment including psycho-education, Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). We will go at your own pace and discuss various treatment options before getting started. We recognize that even starting treatment is a big step, so education on your symptoms and experiences is often our initial approach.
Anxiety & Depression
We offer specialized therapy for anxiety and depression, tailored to each individual's unique needs. We use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Behavioral Activation for Depression to help you regain a sense of control, balance, and an increase in functioning. Psycho-education is used to help you understand how your brain works and why these treatments are effective.
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Are you experiencing intrusive thoughts, images, and desires that don't feel like they belong to you? Are you driven to complete actions to reduce this distress that feel uncomfortable, embarrassing, or illogical? OCD is not just what we see in the media. We use comprehensive assessments to test for OCD and treat with Exposure and Response/Ritual Prevention (ERP) to help alleviate these overwhelming symptoms.
Addiction Counseling
Shelby is a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) and spent over 8 years working in an addiction treatment center. If you are concerned about how your drinking or substance use is impacting your life or those around you, we can help you explore these patterns. From moderation skills, harm reduction, or sobriety, we will work with each client to identify treatments that fit their goals.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
Relationships are difficult, and when we are operating with a limited skill set they can feel nearly impossible. If you are concerned about the ways you engage with others and would like a healthier, more fulfilling life, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) may be an appropriate treatment. DBT is a robust therapy that can also help with difficult emotions resulting from life's challenges, managing stress, learning to be more present, rearranging priorities, addiction... the list is endless.
Resources
EMDR
Shelby is trained in EMDR through the EMDR International Association. This association was developed by Francine Shapiro, the psychologist who developed EMDR. If you are curious about this treatment this video can provide some information to get you started.

OCD and ERP

OCD may not be what you think. Many people are not aware that they have it and are sometimes too embarrassed or afraid to share these thoughts and behaviors. It's common and it's treatable. These videos can help you understand what OCD is and explain the leading treatment for it, Exposure and Response/Ritual Prevention (ERP).
DBT

Dialectical Behavior Therapy was initially developed by Marsha Linehan to treat Borderline Personality Disorder. However, it is such a robust and applicable therapy it is used to treat many other challenges that bring people to treatment. This video explains some of the skills learned in DBT and serves as a great introduction.
Please note that we do not offer a full DBT Program but rather incorporate these skills into your treatment in a tailored and individualized way.
Meet Your Clinician

Shelby Egan MA, LPC, NCC, CCHMC, CAADC
Hi, I'm Shelby!
If you've gotten this far in the website, you know a lot about what we do and the services we offer. How about who does it?
When I'm not providing therapy or making a website, I'm running, reading, or chasing my cat, Olive, away from our houseplants. Sometimes she joins our virtual sessions. My apologies. My husband and I recently took up fly fishing, and we are both big Seinfeld fans. I am also a part time professor for Kutztown's Counseling Program.
I am incredibly invested in evidence based treatments and their results.
I'm looking forward to working with you!
